The weather was perfect for last Sunday’s
second annual Michigan Jewish Food
Festival at the Eastern Market. An esti-
mated 6,500 attendees participated in
chef demos with Joan Nathan, Meskerem
Gebryohannes and Liz Alpern; they
sampled healthy, local food from an array
of food trucks, caterers and vendors; and
they learned at food and environmental
justice panels — all while enjoying four
musical acts.

This Hazon event is aimed at working
to create a healthier, more sustainable
Jewish community and a healthier and
more sustainable world for all. It brought
Jews from across all denominations
together to the historic Eastern Market
and supported local food entrepreneurs.
