Factory Festival — noon-3 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 10, at the Jewish
Community Center in West
Bloomfield — fun activities will be
combined with creative, educational

the tablets, catch a ride on a camel,
bungee jump into the new year,
enjoy live music by the Kids Klez of
Michigan band, create a New Year’s
resolution board, watch and learn
as a beekeeper uses live bees to pro-
duce fresh honey and enjoy a petting

fun activities planned.

Kosher food will include a barbe-

tification for this event).

Immediately following the violence
in Charlottesville, Va., Aug. 12, many
local rabbis addressed the topic of
anti-Semitism from their pulpits.
In addition, some congregations
have planned events to continue
to confront the issues raised at the
“protests” in Virginia.
Anti-Defamation League’s
Michigan Regional Director Heidi
Budaj will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday,
Sept. 12, at Congregation B’nai
Moshe in West Bloomfield. Her
topic, “Anti-Semitism: What’s Going
On and What You Can Do To Help,”
will attempt to shed light on the
fast-growing epidemic and give
ideas and action points to help curb

the rhetoric and hatred.
Budaj will also speak at
Congregation Shir Tikvah on Friday,
Oct. 20. She will address increased
incidents of hate and anti-Semitism
statewide and nationally. Her
remarks will take place during ser-
vices, which begin at 6:15 p.m.
“Disavowing hatred should not be
difficult,” Budaj remarked. “During
these difficult times of increased
hate incidents across the United
States, our community is looking for
answers.”
Budaj will speak to how worried
we should be and what can we do.
Her remarks will be followed by a
Q&A period. •
