Amos Guiora, Professor of Law at the University of Utah, will examine the role of bystanders during the Holocaust and in contemporary society, sharing examples from his own family’s experiences and from a wide range of historical and current events. Guiora is a widely cited expert and author on the legal aspects of counterterrorism and international law. He will be joined in cel- ebration by his proud parents, Jennifer and Dan Zimmermann, and brother Aiden Cooper. Jonah is the loving grandchild of Carol and Jay Levin, and Judi and the late William Zimmermann. He is a student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. For his mitzvah project, Jonah gave his time to caring for homeless animals by volunteering at the New Beginnings Animal Rescue, raising funds and awareness for Almost Home Animal Rescue League and advocat- ing for animal rights by support- ing StopYulinForever.org. He found this experience to be very meaningful.
