and Martin and Sylvia Klapman.
Zachary attends Mountain Trail
Middle School. For his mitzvah
project, he is having a toy drive for
Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Professor Amos N. Guiora

I

f you are a bystander and witness a crime, should
intervention to that crime be a legal obligation
or is moral responsibility enough? Amos Guiora,
Professor of Law at the University of Utah, will
examine the role of bystanders during the Holocaust
and in contemporary society, sharing examples from
his own family’s experiences and from a wide range of historical and
current events. Guiora is a widely cited expert and author on the legal
aspects of counterterrorism and international law.

Kaye and great-grandmother Berdie
Pime. She is also the grandchild of the
late Richard Kaye.
Leora attends Warner Middle
School in Farmington Hills. She vol-
unteered at several organizations in
the community; her most meaningful
mitzvah project has been working
with Travelling Tutus Inc. She has
collected dance costumes and dance
shoes, which will be sent to children
in orphanages and foster care who
wish to learn the art of dance.

She is the loving
daughter of Cheryl
and Gene Spektor and sister of Scott.
Claire is the grandchild of Bronya and
Mark Spektor, and the late Sharon and
Irving Gofstein.
She is a student at West Hills
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills.
Among her many mitzvah projects,
Claire found volunteering at Scamp, a
camp for children with special needs,
to be the most meaningful.

mitzvah at Temple
Israel in West
Bloomfield on
Zimmermann
Saturday, Sept. 2. He
will be joined in cel-
ebration by his
proud parents, Jennifer and Dan
Zimmermann, and brother Aiden
Cooper. Jonah is the loving grandchild
of Carol and Jay Levin, and Judi and
the late William Zimmermann.
He is a student at West Hills Middle
School in Bloomfield Hills. For his
mitzvah project, Jonah gave his time
to caring for homeless animals by
volunteering at the New Beginnings
Animal Rescue, raising funds
and awareness for Almost Home
Animal Rescue League and advocat-
ing for animal rights by support-
ing StopYulinForever.org. He found
this experience to be very meaningful.
