When Joan Nathan wanted to learn to make kubbe (meat dumplings),
she found a woman from Kurdistan who sat on the floor of her
Jerusalem home every Friday and made them for 60 members of her
family. Nathan, award-winning Jewish cookbook-author extraordinaire,
is a master at tracking down the keepers of family culinary traditions.
In her newest book, King Solomon’s Table: A Culinary Exploration
of Jewish Cooking from Around the World (Knopf), she shares her
findings from around the world, celebrating the diversity of Jewish
cuisine. Meet Nathan, presented by Federation’s Women’s Philanthropy
and Hazon Detroit, who will share favorite holiday recipes and sign
