jn
leanor Smith of West
Bloomfield celebrated her
90th birthday in June; the
official celebration will be with
friends and family who are all join-
ing together at an upcoming bar
mitzvah for one of her great-grand-
children in late August. Eleanor has
been married to Phil Smith for 71
years and enjoys spending time with
friends, going to family milestone
events, and working and managing
the Doll Project for Hadassah House
in West Bloomfield, where she has
received many honors. A founding
member of Beth Shalom and its first librarian and then the librarian at Hillel
Day School for many years, she sometimes wears a sweatshirt that says,
“Don’t Make Me Use My Librarian Voice.” What keeps her going are exercise
and the love she gives and receives from family. •
