La Dulce Moves Downtown

The multi-cultural tapas spot La
Dulce has relocated from Royal Oak
to a sprawling 7,000-square-foot
space at the Crowne Plaza Detroit
Riverfront (2 Washington Blvd.).
“We have absolutely loved our
time in the Royal Oak community
and will miss the neighborhood
that embraced us as we built our
footprint. We had an opportunity
to be part of Detroit’s growing culi-
nary scene that we couldn’t pass up.
We’re so excited for our next step,”
says owner Luis Negrete.
La Dulce’s new location on
Detroit’s riverfront is open daily for
breakfast, lunch, dinner and week-
end brunch. It features a vibrant
open-air patio facing the Detroit

River, ideal for cocktail hour and
private events.
An expanded kitchen operation
allows the culinary team to feature
new large-scale dining experiences
including suckling pig and shareable
paella.
The restaurant’s culinary program
is helmed by Executive Chefs Juan
Negrete and Hector Sanz. La Dulce
is known for serving “tapas from
around the world” with signature
dishes including Ceviche, Ibérico
Cured Loin Croquettes, Squid Ink
Calamari, Galicia-style Octopus and
traditional Churros.
Hours are Monday-Saturday, 6:30
a.m.-midnight, and Sunday 6:30

“A wonderful adventure in fine dining” ~ Danny Raskin

Summer Menu
At C.A.Y.A.
Smokehouse

Chef Jeff Rose’s initial vision for
C.A.Y.A., an acronym for “Come As
You Are,” was going to be a quaint
French bistro; but he eventually
settled on an upscale smokehouse
and grill in the picturesque Walled
Lake area with pals Richard and
Rachel Mandell. Rose’s claim to
fame is running a scratch kitchen,
seeking out produce and meat from
farms within 100 miles of the res-
taurant. Tollgate Farms, a Michigan
State University property in Novi, is
his favorite spot to grab fresh veg-

etables during the summer months.
He has just changed his menu
to include new summer favorites.
Vegetarians and vegans will love the
pulled squash, and meat lovers will
see it as the perfect side dish.
The eclectic menu changes
with the season and summer has
brought out wonderful new flavors
with Michigan asparagus, mint,
watermelon, salmon, short ribs and
steak. Come in to check out the new
dishes. •
