Lindsay (Zuckerman) and Joseph Hegleman of New
York, N.Y., are thrilled to announce the birth of their son,
Sebastian Ilan Hegleman. Big sister Skylar Rose was
excited to welcome her brother home. Delighted grand-
parents are Denise and Richard Zuckerman of Farmington
Hills, Kathy and Barry Karson of Naples, Fla., and Monterey,
Mass. Sebastian “Bash” Ilan is named in loving memory
of his paternal grandfather Stewart Hegleman, maternal
great-grandmother Shirley Spoon, paternal great-grand-
mother Irene Cossman and dear family friends Alan Kaplan
and Richard Alan Monash.

S

ylvia Collins Bershad was
born Aug. 8, 1917. She
attended Central High School
and later graduated from Wayne
State University. She worked more
than 30 years as an administra-
tor in labor relations for the state
of Michigan. At 90 years old, she
received a life master in contract
bridge. This great-grandmother of
three will be honored at a family
gathering on Aug. 12. •

Cranbrook
Academy of Art
announced that
Jennifer Gilbert
has been named
the new chair of
the Cranbrook
Academy of
Gilbert
Art and Art
Museum Board of
Governors. Gilbert
also became a member of the
board of trustees for Cranbrook
Educational Community. A well-
known figure in the Detroit area,
Gilbert works with a number of
nonprofits focused on the arts,
Jewish causes and finding a cure
for neurofibromatosis (NF). She
is president of NF Forward and
serves as a board member for the
Detroit Institute of Arts.

Aaron Cooper, son of Caroline and Judge
Stephen Cooper, graduate of Southfield-
Lathrup High and University of Michigan, has
been named by Groupon.com as president of
