July 19, 2017.
He is survived by his
beloved wife, Robin
Herman; daughter
and son-in-law, Tracy
and Greg Duda; son
Herman
and daughter-in-law,
Benjiman Herman
and Jessica Grandas;
grandchildren, Maddie, Sophie and
Tyler Duda; sister, Sandra Sherman;

law and sisters-in-law, Cheryl Herman,
Barry (Terry) Bell, Nicole (Paul)
Kallush and Hilary ( John) Vallone;
many loving nieces, nephews, other
family members and a world of devot-
ed friends.
Mr. Herman was the dear son of
the late Minnie and the late Herman
lished special funds at local higher edu-
cation institutes as well as established
scholarships at many of Michigan’s public
universities. Education was very impor-
tant to Steve, and he was quick to help a
student with unforeseen needs.
He was a longtime member of the Elks
and a member of Temple Israel, where
he served on the Dues and Assessment
Committee for many years. He also
served on the Chevra Kadisha Committee
and the Building Committee.
After recovering from prostate cancer,
Steve took to walking. Not one to do any-
thing in a small way, he would walk out-
side or on a treadmill for the whole day,
his cell phone at the ready. He could com-
plete a full day of business in this manner.
His diagnosis of terminal brain cancer
did not deter him. Having lost a great
deal of strength and function on his left
side, he continued to work as hard as
his body would allow. He challenged all
therapists that he worked with, never
complaining and never giving up. When
Daniel was married last summer, the
family was blessed to have Steve and
Dena walk down the aisle with their son.
Besides his wife and son, Steve is sur-
vived by his brother and sister-in-law,
Doug and Victoria Wirt; brother-in-
law, Robert Lee; nieces and nephews,
Michelle, Doug, Natalie and Zachery
Wexler, Joshua Lee and Liza Wirt; sisters-
in-law, Phyliss Jaffe and Julianna Jaffe;
special friends, the Harold and Ruth
Blumenstein family, the Clarence and
Sara Rivette family, the Donna and Mike
Bacigalogo family; and the very special
friends that cared for Steve with so much
love through his battle, Evens Bernard
and Magali Wooley.
The funeral was held at Temple Beth
Israel in Bay City. Rabbi David Nelson
officiated. Contributions may be made to
