Eight Over
80 Honored

Annual celebration honors accomplished seniors.

T

he 24th Annual Jewish
Senior Life Eight Over Eighty
Celebration was held in
May at Adat Shalom Synagogue in
Farmington Hills. The event brought
out more than 400 community mem-
bers who honored eight extraordinary
individuals with the 2017 Tikkun Olam
Award for community activism and
leadership.
Joining these community leaders
were eight students from the Frankel
Jewish Academy, each of whom was
paired with an honoree. Each FJA
student interviewed an honoree and
presented them at the event. The
event raised a record $182,000 to sup-
port the Jewish Senior Life Quality of
Life Fund, including support of the JSL
Food Program.
Nominations for the 2018 Eight Over
Eighty Tikkun Olam Awards are now
being accepted. Contact Beth Tryon
at Jewish Senior Life for a nomination
form at btryon@jslmi.org or (248) 592-

Margot’s awareness of
anti-Semitism began in
childhood where she
spent her earliest years
in Berlin, Germany,
during the rise of Nazi
Germany. Margot’s
true passion for community work was
ignited when she became involved in
StandWithUs, an organization dedicat-
ed to advocating for the State of Israel
and in combating misinformation
about the Jewish State.
