Merritt Olson and Steven Baer of Portland, Ore., are
thrilled to announce the birth of their daughter, Sylvia
Jean. Ecstatic grandparents are Pat and Bob Baer of
Sarasota, Fla., and Farmington Hills, Barbara Mueller
and Rich Olson of Chicago, Ill., and Elizabeth Olson of
Portland. Lovingly, Sylvia Jean is named in memory of
her father’s paternal grandmother Sylvia Baer and her
mother’s paternal grandmother Jean Olson. Her Hebrew
name, Esther Leah, is in loving memory of her father’s
maternal grandmother Ethel Danto and her mother’s
maternal grandmother Lois Newhouse.

Sarah and Jordan met as counselors at Camp Tamarack and reside in
Chicago.
