Downtown Detroit Beach Party

The beach and lawn at Campus Martius Park is open for the 2017
season, offering a relaxing setting with comfortable seating from
the park’s generous partner, IKEA. Also, in addition to Downtown
Street Eats, which fills Cadillac Square with a rotating selection
of food trucks every weekday, lunchtime visitors can also enjoy
food and beverages from Fountain
Detroit, the park’s unique ship-
ping container restaurant that
premiered last year and quickly
became very popular. Featuring
casual open-air dining, this urban
beach-side, full-service restaurant
and bar offers a variety of frozen
drinks, specialty cocktails and
craft beer, plus its own creative
spin on grilled paninis, burgers,
salads and appetizers.
The Beach is open daily from 6 a.m.-10 p.m., Downtown
Street Eats runs from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. weekdays with live mid-day
musical performances by local Detroit artists noon-2 p.m. on
two stages — one in Campus Martius Park and one in Cadillac
Square — through Oct. 13. Fountain Detroit hours are Monday-
Wednesday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Friday-
Saturday, 11 a.m.-midnight; and Sunday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. •

Backyard
Party Options

Graduations, birth-
days, showers, b’nai
mitzvahs and more
are all great occasions
to celebrate. Rather
than going to a res-
taurant or banquet
center, the growing
trend with families is to have back-
yard parties that are fun and with a
less formal feel.
Fun foods and treats available
from Redford-based Detroit Popcorn
Company include hot dogs, snow
cones, slushies, cotton candy, pop-
corn, pretzels, nachos, a large assort-
ment of candies, ice cream and all the

accessories needed
like popcorn season-
ings, nacho warmers,
rental machines, a
large selection of cups,
glasses, theater-style
popcorn boxes, raffle
tickets, aprons and
other party favors.
For 94 years, Detroit
Popcorn Company
has been well known
for making indoor and/or outdoor
parties and celebrations fun and easy.
The company, which is owned
by David Farber of the Bill and
Audrey Farber Foundation, recently
increased its supply of all types of
rental machines to meet the grow-
ing demand for parties. For info, call
(313) 387-1600. •
