Through the Centennial Fund, Andrea and Lawrence Wolfe
Sustain Our Community’s Deep Connection to Israel

“We

must never forget the importance of the State
of Israel to the Jewish people. It is not only
our homeland, it is also the enduring source of strength,
connection and inspiration for our community in Detroit,
as well as for Jews throughout the world.” These are the
words of Andi and Larry Wolfe, two of our community’s
longstanding leaders and philanthropists. Andi is the
daughter of Betty and D. Dan Kahn, who were strong
supporters of Israel in addition to great benefactors of
Jewish Detroit. Larry currently serves as President of the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and, as a
longtime Federation leader, has helped guide its strong
Israel agenda as well as advocating on behalf of the local
community. Now, with their recent commitment to the
Centennial Fund, the Wolfes are helping to ensure that
their extraordinary passion and commitment to Israel
continues to motivate and inspire others for generations
to come.

Andi and Larry have decided to fulfill their vision in two ways.
The Andrea L. and Lawrence A. Wolfe Israel Mission Fund will
create annual trips to Israel for disengaged Jewish adults, an
experience that is often cited as the catalyst for a lifetime of
connection to Judaism and Jewish community. The Wolfes’
Israel Advocacy Fund will send college students affiliated
with the Hillel of Metro Detroit and HCAM (serving smaller
campuses around the state) to the annual AIPAC Policy
Conference on Israel. “We know that there is no better
investment for the long-term vibrancy of our community
than a mission to Israel,” notes Larry. “It is an experience
which has been the launching point for many of our
community’s most passionate leaders.” Andi adds, “We also
want to make sure that our young adults develop an
understanding of the importance of a strong U.S.–Israel
relationship, so we are committed to sending college
students to the AIPAC Conference as part of their Jewish
education.” Through these two unique funds, Andi and Larry
Wolfe are ensuring that our community’s deep connection to
Israel remains essential long into the future.
