Novi’s Wasabi
Japanese
Steakhouse
and Sushi
has it all.

Call it whatever you like, but
only two words are needed to
truly describe it … very good
… This is Wasabi Japanese
Steakhouse and Sushi on Grand
River, between Meadowbrook
and Novi Road, Novi.
Open only since 2012, it has
already proven its accepted
worth and made regulars out
of “let’s see” customers with
its variety of dining goodies …
Teppanyaki iron table, sushi
selection, Japanese comfort
food, fusion Asian, etc. … Plus
being highly acceptable with its
diversified culinary presenta-
tions, much entertaining in din-
ing is available as well … Taking
exotic offerings from the sushi
bar, for example, and perhaps
sitting at the teppanyaki to also
partake of that sector’s deli-
cious offerings is an acceptable
practice among many diners at
Wasabi.

Jim Huang and Jenny Wu have
the right idea in capitalizing
on their thinking … Give the
public what they want in a
novel and enjoyable way and
the customers will be back with
smiles at the goodness of their
experiences … The enjoyment
of fresh sushi and special rolls
prepared daily, hibachi choices
of steak, seafood, vegetables,
combinations, etc. … Wine
selections, sake hot and chilled,
beer, champagne, martinis,
etc. … Even children’s choices,
something sadly lacking on the
menus of many other Japanese
dining operations.

That Wasabi Japanese
Steakhouse and Sushi has
passed the test of time with
flying colors is a tribute to its
dedicated goodness that always
makes for most interesting culi-
nary experiences.
THE ENTIRE MONTH of
July will include free house
dessert to all customers com-
ing to dine in only in celebra-
tion of Andiamo West’s 20th
anniversary since taking over
the former Machus Red Fox
site on Telegraph and 15 Mile,
Bloomfield Township … Also,
the usual summer menu will be
changed to include numerous
asked-for favorites.
Many excellent dishes from
Andiamo West’s first day as a
celebrities and local person-
alities popular go-to eatery
will continue to be served
as well as items not listed
but attempted by excellent

Oppat and his fine kitchen staff
at Andiamo West … Like the
regularly-asked-for outstand-
ing lightly-breaded veal dishes,
chicken, pasta, fresh fish selec-
tions, etc. … Also, a completely
gluten-free dining assortment
… Making for an elegantly joy-
ous cuisine experience.

broker supreme … Their words
on local spots were priceless.
CHILDREN’S DEPT. …
Before giving her money to
buy some candy, Marion Stern
laughingly recalls years ago ask-
ing her niece, 7-year-old Joanne
Metzger, what she had done
during the week to make some
person happy … She remembers
Jo replying, “I spent the after-
noon at my friend’s house and
when I left she was happy.”
REARVIEW MIRROR … In
many years gone by, nobody
had to gamble on seeing great
entertainment … At Al Siegel’s
Elmwood Casino dining and
dancing fun across the Detroit
River in Windsor appeared
Sammy Davis Jr., Milton Berle,
Buddy Greco, Frankie Valli
and many other show busi-
ness greats … Here in Detroit,
the Charade Supper Club on
Livernois had Redd Foxx, June
Christie, “Slappy” White, Four
Tops, Supremes, Cab Calloway,
etc. … George Fink, a true-
blue delicatessen man, (Ben &
George Delicatessen on Dexter,
George’s Deli a couple of blocks
away from Darbys) surprised
everyone by being chosen to
run the new highly touted
gourmet Drawbridge restaurant
in Northville … George Young,
head of Bald Is Beautiful,
appearing with his band The
Youngsters at Pier 500, loved his
new bumper sticker, “Hair Has
No Sex!” … People were shocked
when the Budapest Supper
Club, a wonderful Hungarian

restaurant, was allowed by the
bank to stay open, but only
to serve American food … No
Hungarian fare, which was all
it had!”
OLDIE BUT GOODIE …
Three sons leave their home-
land, prosper abroad and dis-
cuss the gifts they have been
able to give their aged mother.
The first one says, “I built a
big house for our mother.”
The second son says, “I sent
her a Mercedes with a driver.”
The youngest son says,
“Remember how our mother
enjoys reading the whole Bible?
Now she can’t read very well,
so I sent her a remarkable par-
rot that recites the entire Bible.
Mama just has to name the
chapter and verse.”
Soon a letter of thanks came
from their mother.
To the first son, she said,
“The house was built too big. I
live in only one room.”
To the second son, “I am
too old to travel. I stay mostly
at home and rarely use the
Mercedes. The driver is a pain.”
But to the third son, she
wrote, “The chicken was deli-
cious!”
