Alexis Genevieve
Bassey, daughter of
Jamie Bassey,
Kenneth Bassey and
David Sarotte, will
become a bat mitz-
vah at Temple
Israel in West
Bassey
Bloomfield on
Friday, June 9. She
will be joined in cel-
ebration by her siblings Maya, Charlie
and Miki. Her proud grandparents
are Rosanne and Bennett Fienman,
Joan and Ronald Bassey, Beth Sarotte
and Anthony Sarotte.
Alexis is a student at Berkshire
Middle School in Birmingham. For
her most rewarding mitzvah project,
she chose to combat food insecurity
in our community by volunteering at
Gleaners Food Bank.

Charlie Logan
Herz, son of Jamie
Hochman Herz and
Stephen Herz, will
become a bar mitz-
vah at Temple
Israel in West
Bloomfield on
Herz
Saturday, June 10. He
will be joined in cel-
ebration by his sib-
lings Eliza and Julia and proud grand-
parents Sharon and Leon Hochman,
and Jack Herz. Charlie is also the
grandchild of the late Sara Herz.
He is a student at Warner Middle
School in Farmington Hills. As part of
his mitzvah project, Charlie worked
with Jewish Family Services of Seattle
on multiple efforts, including sorting
food in their warehouse and creating
holiday baskets.

Sophie Bella Feiler
of Huntington
Woods, daughter of
Alison Feiler, and
Mark and Amy
Feiler, was called to
the Torah as a bat
mitzvah on
Saturday, May 27, at
Feiler
Temple Emanu-El in
Oak Park. Joining
her in her celebration were her proud
parents, her brothers Sammy and
Charlie, her grandparents Madelyn
and Martin Summer, and Barbara
and Larry Feiler, along with many
proud family members and friends.
Sophie is a seventh-grade student
at Norup International School in Oak
Park. For her mitzvah project, she
collected donations and volunteered
her time for Children’s Hospital of
Michigan.

Amelia Jane Karp,
daughter of Rachel
and Gabe Karp, will
lead the congrega-
tion in prayer on the
occasion of her bat
mitzvah at Temple
Israel in West
Bloomfield on
Karp
Friday, June 9. She
will be joined in cel-
ebration by her sisters Jillian and
Violet and proud grandparents Karen
and Leon Rubenfaer, and Marlene
Karp. Amelia is also the grandchild of
the late Ronald Karp.
She is a student at Norup
International School in Oak Park. For
her most meaningful mitzvah proj-
ect, Amelia volunteered at Temple
Israel’s Free Fresh Food Pantry where
she packaged and distributed food to
those in need.

Jack Benjamin
Freeman, son of
Maria and Jeffrey
Freeman, will read
from the Torah on
the occasion of his
bar mitzvah at
Temple Israel in
West Bloomfield on
Freeman
Saturday, June 10.
Joining in his cele-
bration will be his brother Henry and
proud grandparents Eda and Dr.
Enrique Gerbi, and Norrine and
Melvin Freeman.
Jack is a student at Detroit Country
Day Middle School in Beverly Hills.
As part of his mitzvah projects, he
participated in the Jewish Family
Services Fall Fix Up event, where he
helped clean up yards for older peo-
ple in the community. He found this
experience to be very rewarding.

Evann Bree
Oleshansky will
lead the congrega-
tion in prayer on the
occasion of her bat
mitzvah at Temple
Israel in West
Bloomfield on
Saturday, June 10.
Oleshansky
She is the loving
daughter of Ashley
and Brian Adelman, and Gregg
Oleshansky and sister of Aria. She will
be joined in celebration by her proud
grandparents Shelley and David
Wainer, and Marlene and Bill
Oleshansky.
Evann attends Berkshire Middle
School in Birmingham. For her
mitzvah project, she joined the fight
against food insecurity in our commu-
nity by volunteering at both Forgotten
Harvest and Berkley-based Yad Ezra.
