Sobel

Dana and Dale Sobel of Atlanta are pleased to announce the
birth of their son, Harrison Jay. Grandparents are Jacki and
Gordon Smith of Commerce Township, George Jakubovic, and
Esther and Jonathan Sobel of Atlanta. Harrison is named in
loving memory of Uncle Harry Margareten and maternal great-
grandfather Jay Jakubovic. His Hebrew name, Doron Chaviv, is
named in loving memory of his paternal great-grandparents,
Dorothy and David Sobel, and Kurt Lewinsky.

He will be joined in

Vicki and Jeffrey Ingber, Sande and
Robert Chernett, and great-grandfa-
ther Dan Feldman. Brevin is also the
grandchild of the late Barbara
Chernett and great-grandchild of
the late Marilyn Feldman, and the
late Mollie and Abe Ingber.
Brevin is a student at West Hills
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills.
For his most meaningful mitzvah
project, he took part in Jewish
Family Service’s Spring into Action
program, during which he helped
older adults get their yards looking
great for the spring and summer.

Rachel Eden
Freedland will be
called to the Torah
as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, May 27, at
Adat Shalom
Synagogue in
Farmington Hills.
Freedland
She is the loving
daughter of Jennifer
and Stuart
Freedland, the sister of Noah and
the granddaughter of Sydell and
Michael Zimmerman, and the late
Rona and the late Herbert
Freedland.
Rachel is a sixth-grade student at
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills. For her
mitzvah project, she was honored
to spend time with the women from
the JARC Gilbert Home. Together
they baked, decorated a sukkah
and enjoyed monthly bingo nights.
Rachel also interviewed the women
and gifted them with personal-
ized poems based on fun facts they
shared about themselves.

Max Harrison

he celebrates his
bar mitzvah at
Temple Israel in
West Bloomfield on
Friday, May 26. He
Fenster
will be joined in
celebration by his
proud parents,
Susie and Michael Fenster, and sis-
ter Addison. Max is the loving
grandchild of Daphne and the late
Herman Fenster, and Ilene and the
late Dr. Richard Weiss.
He is a student at West Hills
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills.
With his love of animals, Max found
volunteering at Adoption Day with
Furget Us Not Pet Rescue to be the
most meaningful of his mitzvah
projects.

Michael David
Gantz, son of Jill
and Adam Gantz,
will lead the con-
gregation in prayer
on the occasion of
his bar mitzvah at
Temple Israel in
Gantz
West Bloomfield on
Saturday, May 27.
He will be joined in
celebration by his sister Mia, proud
grandparents Idee and Alan Fox,
Susanne and Richard Thomas, Carl
Kahn, and great-grandmother
Dorothy Krashin. Michael is also the
grandchild of the late Michael
Gantz.
Michael attends Warner Middle
School in Farmington Hills. Among
his many mitzvah projects, he found
volunteering with his peers at the
Temple Israel Labor Day Picnic to be
the most rewarding.

Sharing in her cele-
bration will be her siblings Branden
and Alexis and proud grandparents
Asya and Mark Nisnevich, Lois and
Rick Wonboy, and Mel and Pat
Gitler. She is also the great-grand-
child of Sergey Lyublin, the late Rose
and Norman Gitler, and the late Bea
and Sam Leaderman.
Gabriella attends West Hills
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills.
As part of her mitzvah experience,
she volunteered weekly for the life
skills program at the Friendship
Circle in West Bloomfield, which she
found to be very rewarding.

Lindsey Brook
Katz (Lena Bracha)
will become a bat
mitzvah on Friday,
May 26 at Temple
Emanu-El in Oak
Park. She is the
daughter of Amy
Katz
and Ivan and sister
of Samantha. She is
the granddaughter
of Brenda Brook and Joe Feinstein,
Ruth Katz, Marilyn Katz, the late
Larry Katz and the late Larry Brook.
Lindsey is a seventh-grade student
at Norup International School in
Oak Park. For her mitzvah project,
she volunteered at PACE Southeast
Michigan, which helps elderly peo-
ple age in place in their homes. She
volunteered in PACE’s day center,
helping to take attendance, plant a
vegetable garden and assist in the
salon.

Noa Sylvia
Sunshine Ostroff
will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitz-
vah on Saturday,
May 27, at
Congregation
B’nai Moshe in
Ostroff
West Bloomfield.
Celebrating with
Noa will be her par-
ents, Zack and Jennifer Ostroff; her
Nana and Papa, Jerry and Judy Sima;
her Bubbie and Zaydie, Ron and
Phyllis Ostroff; and her siblings,
Maia and Eli.

Noa is a seventh-grader at Clifford
Smart Middle School in Commerce
Township. For her mitzvah project,
she enjoyed working with the North
Star Reach, a Michigan organization
dedicated to offering camp experi-
ences to children with severe medi-
cal conditions. She raised nearly
$1,500 and collected more than 400
pounds of plastic pop tops for recy-
cling to support the camp.

Rylie Sloane
Rosenfeld, daugh-
ter of Michelle and
Jason Rosenfeld,
will read from the
Torah on the occa-
sion of her bat
mitzvah at Temple
Rosenfeld
Israel in West
Bloomfield on
Friday, May 26.
Joining in her simchah will be her
sisters Sydni and Taylor. She is the
grandchild of Barbara and Raymond
Horenstein, and Marilyn Rosenfeld
and the late Stanley Rosenfeld.
Rylie attends Berkshire Middle
School in Birmingham. Of her many
mitzvah experiences, she found the
most meaningful to be the work she
did with Humble Design, a Detroit-
based organization that helps fami-
lies transitioning out of homeless
shelters. She assisted the design
team in cleaning and decorating a
specific home.

Madeline
Sandberg
(Miriam), daughter
of Alissa Goldfaden
and Jay Sandberg,
will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitz-
vah on Saturday,
May 27, at Adat
Sandberg
Shalom
Synagogue in
Farmington Hills. Sharing in her
simchah will be her brothers Max
and Alec and proud bubbie Sarah
Goldfaden. Maddie is also the
granddaughter of the late Louis
Goldfaden and the late Arthur and
Marion Sandberg.
Maddie is a student at Orchard
Lake Middle School in West
Bloomfield. Among her many
mitzvah projects, her most mean-
ingful was volunteering at the
Miracle League through the West
Bloomfield-based Friendship Circle.
