Lindsay Jordyn Dudovitz (Penina Me’ira), daughter of Jennifer Dudovitz and Jeffrey Dudovitz, will become a bat mitzvah on Friday, May 5, at Aish HaTorah in Oak Dudovitz Park. Joining her in her celebration will be her brother Josh and grandparents Jerry and Lorry Cooper, and David and Renee Dudovitz. Lindsay is a seventh-grade student at Norup International School in Oak Park. For her mitzvah project, she found assisting clients at Yad Ezra food pantry in Berkley most meaning- ful. Seth Tyler Goldstein (Tzvi Tal) will be called to the Torah on Saturday, May 6, at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills. He is the son of Goldstein Marcie and Ethan Goldstein, brother of Benjamin and Manya, and the grandson of Barbara Eskin, the late Mort Eskin, and Carol and Mervin Goldstein. Seth is a seventh-grader at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. Among his mitz- vah projects, he collected gently used sports equipment for Clark Park in Detroit, which facilitates access to recreational sports for children of all ages. She is the loving daugh- jn ter of Elissa and Larry Kaufman and sister of Emily. Shelby is the grand- child of Kendra and the late Allan Tobes, and Beverly and the late Arthur Chabon. Shelby is a student at Clifford Smart Middle School in Commerce Township. For her most meaningful mitzvah experience, she collected and sorted gently used camping equipment for the Tamarack Gear Share Program to help equip and outfit teens for their summer adventures. Cami Jordan Brode Krugel will celebrate her bat mitzvah at the Birmingham Temple on Friday, May 5. She is the pre- cious daughter of Heidi Brode and Joel Krugel Krugel and the sweetest little sister to Darby. He Manela is the loving son of Melissa “Missy” and Harley Manela and brother of Jonathan. Jordan is the grandson of the late Jack and late Geraldine “Jerry” Miller, the late Nathan Manela, Herb Samovitz and the late Eunice Manela Samovitz. Jordan is a student at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills. Among his many mitzvah projects, Blechman he especially appreciated sharing his love of baseball by volunteering as a buddy with the Miracle League, an organization that allows people of all abilities to participate and enjoy play- ing the game of baseball. Rocco Dean Schwartz, son of Brooke Schwartz, and Jessica and Bruce Schwartz, will lead the congrega- tion in prayer on the occasion of his bar Schwartz mitzvah on Saturday, May 6, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. Sharing in his celebration will be his sister Ruby and proud grandparents Pam Perry and William Toth, Mary Ellen and Frank Perry, honorary grandparent Margie Finkelstein and great-grandmother Julia Perry. As part of his mitzvah project, he worked to combat hunger by volunteering with his peers at Yad Ezra, Michigan’s kosher food pantry, in Berkley. Alexa Hayley Shepherd, daughter of Melissa and Aaron Shepherd, will read from the Torah as she becomes a bat mitzvah on Saturday, May 6, at Temple Israel in West Shepherd Bloomfield. Sharing in her celebration will be her sister Sasha and proud grandparents Helene and Edward Kaplan, and Susan and Dr. David Shepherd, and great-grandmothers Betty Steinlauf and Evelyn Shepherd. Alexa is also the great-grandchild of the late Sol Steinlauf, the late Benjamin Shepherd, the late Hilda and Morris Kaplan, and the late Edyth and Adolph Lebovitz . Alexa is a student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. For her mitzvah project, she collected cans and bottles to raise funds for the Michigan State University Veterinary Oncology Research Center in honor of the great care her late dog, Willow, received at the facility. She found this experience to be the most meaningful of her mitzvah projects and continues to work on raising funds and aware- ness for this special cause. Samantha Ilana Sherman will be called to the Torah a she celebrates her bat mitzvah on Friday, May 5, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. She Sherman is the loving daugh- ter of Lesley and Keith Sherman and sister of Matthew. Joining in her cele- bration will be her proud grandpar- ents Elaine and Carl Cohen of Windsor, Canada, and Ruth and Alan Sherman of Johannesburg, South Africa. Samantha is a student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. As part of her mitzvah project, she volunteered weekly at the Friendship Circle in West Bloomfield, which she found to be very rewarding.
