Mrs. Grossman was the beloved
wife of the late Lt. Colonel Manuel
A. Grossman; the loving sister of
the late Samson Shilmover.
Interment was at Arlington
National Cemetery. Arrangements
by Ira Kaufman Chapel.

SAMUEL P. HAVIS,
93, of Southfield,
died March 17,
2017.
An active par-
ticipant in the
community, Mr.
Havis was the past
president of the
Southfield City
Zoning Board,

the Building Authority and the
Planning Commission. He was also
a past president on the Oak Park
Zoning Board and held positions
there with the Building Authority
and the Planning Commission.
He also served as a past presi-
dent of Hebrew Benevolent Society
in 1987 and 1988 and was chair-
man of the Building Maintenance
Committee, the Hebrew Memorial
Park Cemetery Maintenance
Committee and was a very active
board member from 1967 to 1988.
In addition, he was a member of
B’nai B’rith, Masons and Shriners
and participated with Meals on
Wheels with the National Council
of Jewish Women. Mr. Havis
received the first Citizen of the Year
Award from the city of Southfield.
Mr. Havis is survived by his wife
of 65 years, Florence Havis; sons
and daughter-in-law, Michael and
Carol Havis of Vista, Calif., Alan
Havis of West Bloomfield; daughter,
Dr. Sharon Havis of Farmington
Hills; brother-in-law and sister-
in-law, Charles and Ruthye Danto;
grandchildren, Benjamin Havis,
Solomon Havis, Lilly Havis, Isabelle
Havis; nieces, nephews, other rela-
tives and friends.
Mr. Havis was the dear brother
and brother-in-law of the late Sonia
and the late Seymour Ribiat.
Contributions may be made
to Friendship Circle, 6892 W.
Maple Road, West Bloomfield,
MI 48322; or to a charity of one’s
choice. Interment was held at Adat
Shalom Memorial Park in Livonia.
