T he fourth annual women’s megillah reading sponsored by Or Chadash is a reinvention of previous women’s megillah readings in the Detroit area. The gathering was envisioned by coordinator Michelle Sider as an oppor- tunity to bring together women from all streams of Judaism to support one another and learn Megillat Esther. This event continues to grow and has inspired women of all ages and their families to learn and embrace Jewish traditions. The 10 readers this year were Sophia Gawel, Andrea Wiese-Hason, Shaina Warshay, Deb Apap-Kovsky, Susan Feber, Lindsey Potoff, Ora Singer, Julie Edgar, Talya Jacobowitz and Suzie Kresch. They began studying their parts last December with the assistance of Vera Wexler, this year’s gabbai, and other tutors and resources.
