Miller, will become a
bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Feb. 4, at
Adat Shalom
Synagogue in
Miller
Farmington Hills. In
addition to chanting
from the Torah and reading the hafto-
rah, Joshua will lead the congregation
in prayer. He will be joined in the sim-
chah by his siblings Jonah and Talya.
Joshua is the grandson of Jacqueline
and Dr. Ronald Lorfel, Bobbie Miller
and Gary Miller. He is the great-grand-
son of Adele Gudes.
Joshua is a student in the sev-
enth grade at Eton Academy in
Birmingham. He has volunteered in
the community with several orga-
nizations, and his most meaningful
mitzvah project was with PeerCorps
Detroit, where, among other contribu-
tions, he helped build a hockey rink at
Clark Park.
Jacob Henry Small
will lead the congre-
gation in prayer as
he celebrates his bar
mitzvah at Temple
Israel in West

Small. Joining Jacob
in his simchah will be his proud
grandparents Leanne and Dr. Richard
Small, Margaret and Randy Goins,
Sharon and Edward Zucal and great-
grandmother Betty Zucal.
Jacob is a student at Orchard Lake
Middle School in West Bloomfield.
Among his many mitzvah projects,
he felt volunteering throughout the
summer at the Orchard Lake Middle
School Community Garden to be the
most meaningful.
