Arrangements by Ira Kaufman Chapel. DR. RALPH GORDON SACHS, 76, died Jan. 3, 2017. He was a gradu- ate of Mumford High School in Detroit. He attended architec- tural school at the Sachs University of Michigan and pre-med at Wayne State University. He graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri and the Detroit College of Law and worked professionally as a doctor and, later, a lawyer. During the Vietnam War, he served as an anesthesiologist in the Army at Valley Forge, Pa., achieving the rank of major. He was a proud and active member of the Jewish War Veterans, and every Christmas he would travel with the group to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Battle Creek to give gifts and encouragement to the disabled veterans there. Dr. Sachs had a brilliant and creative mind and was a very talented amateur artist, creating more than 200 pictures and portraits. He painted in traditional, modern and Picasso-like styles. He loved the sport of boxing, and he worked many years in the ring as a fight doctor for both amateur and profes- sional matches in the Detroit area. Dr. Sachs is survived by brother, David Sachs; and many loving friends and fam- ily members. He was the son of the late Frank Sachs, the late Evelyn Sachs and the late Sylvia Sachs; brother of the late Alan Abner Sachs; brother-in-law of the late Patricia Milner Sachs.
