MILLER, 75, of Franklin, died Jan. 7, 2017. Born in 1941 in Detroit, Dr. Miller earned his medical degree, graduating Miller as the valedictorian of the 1966 class of the University of Michigan Medical School. He had a long career as a profes- sor, research program director, research scientist, clinical specialist in endocrinology and metabolism, and provider of patient care both at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He was a kind man and a support- ive mentor to many students and colleagues. In 2015, he was granted the position of emeritus professor at WSU School of Medicine. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed many activities, including bicycling, skiing, sailing, ballroom dancing, traveling and the annual family vacation at Camp Michigania. Dr. Miller unfailingly provided assistance to family and friends dur- ing medical crises and was generous with his time and energy in arrang- ing care for them. Devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Dr. Miller is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane Miller; daughters, Sandy Miller of Ann Arbor, Karen Miller (Emily Drabinski) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stan (Kaye) Miller of Farmington Hills, Jerry (Laura) Miller of Beverly Hills; brother-in-law and sisters-in- law, Susan Levitin, James (Susan) Cohen; grandson, Oscar Miller; many loving nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews, other rela- tives and a world of friends. He was the dear brother-in-law of the late Norman Levitin. Contributions may be made to Congregation T’chiyah, 15000 W. 10 Mile Road, Oak Park, MI 48237; or to a charity of one’s choice.
