The 2017 Golden Globe Awards, the 74th,
mark the opening of the awards season,
honoring the best and brightest in film and
television from 2016. It’s also a fun party to
watch — this year, Jimmy Fallon will host as
it airs at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, on NBC. Here,
our own annual roundup of “who’s a Jew.”

a Jewish grandfather, but don’t identify as
Jewish.

the director and writer of Manchester By the
Sea, is the sole Jewish nominee in the (film)
directing and screenwriting categories; best

Schwartzman and Paul Weitz (co-creators)

Harwood), The Night Manager, directed by

also helped co-write the TV series).
Note: Lead actress (drama) nominee

father (see “Celebrity Jews” in the
Dec. 29 issue), but was raised in
her mother’s Catholic faith. Also,
nominee Andrew Taylor-Jones,
nominated for supporting actor,
film (Nocturnal Animals), once
called himself Jewish, but details
