The evidence behind the program demonstrates that it helps trainees identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Youth Mental Health First Aid® training is designed, in particular, to teach parents, caregivers, educators, nurses and others how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health crisis or addictions challenge. Suicide-alert people are better prepared to connect individuals with thoughts of suicide with life-affirming help. safeTALK is a half-day training session that helps participants recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and connect them with resources. safeTALK is open to anyone 15 or older, regardless of prior experience. Both professionals and members of the general public can benefit from safeTALK. kadimacenter.org Trainings sponsored by KADIMA PROVIDES FREE YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID® TRAINING OR safeTALK TRAINING TO GROUPS OF 15 OR MORE To schedule training at Kadima or your location contact Anne Perry | Kadima Outreach and Special Events Coordinator | 248-663-4330 | annep@kadimacenter.org jn January 19 • 2017 17
