Shop Royal Oak

Svenska Cafe
Birmingham
This quaint shop is the epitome of the
Swedish term fika, which translates to
a true coffee break. At Svenska, you
re
in for a delicious taste of Swedish cof-
fee culture and excellent service.
Owner Christina Bakalis is welcom-
ing and kind to every customer who
enters her quaint shop and will gladly
walk anyone through the customary
Swedish pastries, sandwiches and sal-
ads on display.
Bakalis finds customers can
t seem
to get enough of her homemade
Swedish meatballs or her Kyckling
Curry Mango chicken salad.
Among the baked goods, the
Kanelbulle, or Swedish cinnamon
rolls, typically sell out in a flash.
Customers can order piping hot
coffee, loose-leaf teas, delicious
espresso beverages and one of the best
wintertime treats hot chocolate.
Just a few months old, Svenska is
already gathering a regular crowd
of customers who can
t seem to get
enough of fika time. *
