glow attracted more than 400 young
adults (ages 21-40), corporate sponsors
and major donors.
The program took guests through
each era of Michael Jackson’s influential
and celebrated 40-year career, high-
lighting many popular songs. Vocalist
James Delisco, conductor Brent Havens
and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra
had the crowd singing and dancing,
and even brought audience members
up on stage to get their “MJ” on. For

Gutmann is a native Midwesterner,
raised in Dayton, Ohio, who most
recently served as rabbi of Beth Shalom
Progressive Jewish Congregation in
Auckland, New Zealand. He and his
wife, Jill, have two young daughters.

n Nov. 18, Temple Kol Ami
officially installed Rabbi
Brent Gutmann as its new
senior rabbi. He is only the third
senior rabbi since the congregation
began 50 years ago; he follows the late
Rabbi Ernst Conrad and now Rabbi
Emeritus Norman T. Roman.
The weekend was filled with fes-
tivities, including a special concert
on Saturday night, “Jews on Tin Pan
Alley,” featuring Rabbi Ken Kanter,

full house came out to sup-
port JARC at its 36th annual
fall fundraiser, featuring the
music of Michael Jackson with the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The
exclusive, one-night-only performance
was held Nov. 14 at the Max M. and
Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in
Detroit.
The event kicked off with JARC’s
“Rock with You” strolling dinner and
cocktail reception. Guests enjoyed
live entertainment by musicians Tom
Butwin and John Ballard. Catered by
