DECEMBER 27:

EERO SAARINEN

Tune in to DPTV-Channel 56 at 8 p.m. for American Masters — Eero Saarinen:
The Architect Who Saw the Future, co-produced by his son, Eric Saarinen. At
age 13, Eero Saarinen immigrated from Finland to Bloomfield Hills with his par-
ents and attended Cranbrook Academy of Art — which his architect father, Eliel,
designed. Eero (shown in the Womb chair he designed) eventually became one of
the most iconic architects of the 20th century — and lived an equally fascinating
life (his second wife, New York Times art critic Aline Saarinen, voiced by Blythe
Danner, was Jewish). DPTV.org.
