Farmington Hills, died

He is survived by his

Mr. Burke was the beloved husband of
the late Susan Burke; son of the late Arlene
Burke.
Interment was held at Machpelah

SANFORD PHILLIP GREEN, 96, of West
Bloomfield, died Dec. 14, 2016.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67
years, Shirley Green; sons and daughter-in-
law, Jon Green, Andrew and Diane Green;
daughters and son-in-law, Rhonda and
Jeffrey Shuster, Elizabeth Green; grand-
children, Daniel Shuster, Amanda (Ethan)
Smith, Jeremy Green, Sherri Green; great-
grandchild, Elle Smith.
Mr. Green was the brother of the late
Rhea Green.
Interment was held at Machpelah
Cemetery in Ferndale. Contributions may be

DR. EMERICH
GRINBAUM, 86, passed
away Dec. 15, 2016, in
Ra’anana, Israel.
Dr. Grinbaum
lived and practiced
medicine in Flint and
in Farmington Hills. He
was very active in the
Jewish life of Michigan and actively partici-
pated at the Holocaust Memorial Center in

Farmington Hills. He’ll be remembered and
greatly missed.
Dr. Grinbaum is survived by his wife,
Judy; children, Eva and Andy; their spouses;
and six grandchildren.

DONALD JACOBS, 88,
of West Bloomfield, died
Dec. 15, 2016.
He is survived by his

other loving nieces and

Mr. Jacobs was the beloved husband
of the late Marian Lea Jacobs; the loving
brother of the late Rose Sherman, the late
Sam Ginsburg, the late Etta Carlin and the
late Marion “Midge” Glantz.

JUDITH LEONORE
VEIT KLEIN, 91, of
Silver Spring, Md.,
passed away peacefully
at home after a short ill-
ness.
She was born in Berlin
to Heinrich and Irmgard
Veit Simon on June 14,
1925. Following Kristallnacht, November
1938, Judith found refuge in the United
Kingdom under the Kinderstransport pro-
gram. She married, at age 18, Henry Weill,
with whom she had three children, Michael,
Margaret and David. That marriage ended
in divorce. At age 29, Judith began studies
for a B.A. in economic history at the London
School of Economics, where she met her
future husband, Thomas Klein. They mar-
ried in June 1958 and moved to Silver
Spring in 1959. They had two children,
Richard and Edward.
Mrs. Klein earned an M.A. in economics
from American University and then worked
as a researcher with Professor William
Parker of Yale on a Ford Foundation-
financed study of changing agricultural pro-
ductivity in the antebellum South. She then
worked for Robert Nathan Associates and
later as an adjunct professor of economics at
the University of Maryland.
Mrs. Klein’s hobby was knitting, creating
artistic designs as well as beautiful sweaters
and socks. She was a charter member of the
Museum for Women in the Arts and of the
Holocaust Museum.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas;
children, Michael, Margaret and Edward
(Melissa); grandchildren, Stephen, Courtney
(Christopher Doi), Melanie (Pascal
Chautard) and Zachary; great-grandchil-
dren, Meredith and Amelia.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
