Bogaerts + Associates in Bloomfield Hills and Carrie Long Interiors in Royal Oak. In the powder room, shiplap planks create a minimalist take on paneling, bookending a limestone floating vanity and wall-mounted faucet. In the dining room, a French farmhouse-style Grange table is lined with circa-1920s hand-carved chairs that Long had repainted and recovered with indoor- outdoor fabric. Hazel Park metalsmith Richard Gage framed the glass doors leading to the den. ABOVE: David Tessler, owner of Jabs Gym in Birmingham and Detroit, and his wife, Meagan, wanted a modern look with uber practicality for their growing family. Outside, a wood-burning oven and firewood storage are built into a 13-foot-tall fireplace. In the great room, Barbi Stalburg Bell, owner of BSB Design in Bloomfield Hills, created “zones” for entertaining and relaxing, centered around a round pedestal table with chairs covered in burlap and nail tacks. 50 December 8 • 2016
