GIVE GIFTS FOR KIDS
The JCC suggests two ways to partici-
pate in the “Giving Tuesday” event to
aid children. One way is to drop off
unwrapped children’s toys and activi-
ties at the JCC now through Nov. 29.
The JCC staff will wrap the gifts on
Nov. 29, and the Bottomless Toy Chest
will deliver them to hospitalized pedi-
atric cancer patients. A second way
to help kids is to donate to “From
Me to You,” which provides financial
assistance to attend JCC Day Camps,
Sarah & Irving Pitt Child Development
Center, Lenny Krayzelburg Swim
Academy and special needs programs.
At JCC. Info: jccdet.org/givingtuesday
or Bret, 248-432-5459.

to be done as the growing season

Danny Zivian

TEEN TO BE HONORED
AT KIDNEY BALL

In April, the JN featured a story
about Danny Zivian, a sophomore
student at North Farmington High
School who had raised nearly
$85,000 for the National Kidney
Foundation of Michigan.
Danny, who has kidney dis-
ease, will be recognized at the
Foundation’s Kidney Ball Saturday,
Dec. 3, at MotorCity Casino Hotel.
The black-tie event expects to raise
$600,000 for the National Kidney
Foundation of Michigan’s many
community programs and services
that aid the more than 900,000 peo-
ple in Michigan with kidney disease.
From 2009 to date, Danny, whose
family are members of Temple Shir
Shalom in West Bloomfield, has
raised $84,446 through sponsorship
of the Kidney Walk, making him the
top youth fundraiser.
Danny, 15, will not be able to
attend the ball this year for a very
good reason — he is performing the
lead role of Harold Hill in The Music
Man with Farmington Community
Youth Theater.
The Kidney Ball will begin with
a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., dinner at
7:30 p.m. followed by the program,
with dancing and entertainment in
Sound Board. There is also a live
and silent auction. Tickets are $250
per guest and can be purchased at
www.nkfm.org/kidneyball or by
calling the NKFM at (800) 482-
1455.
