NCJW Women of Vision event features
Jenna Bush Hager and annual award winners.
N
ational Council of Jewish
Women, Greater Detroit
Section (NCJW/Greater
Detroit) attracted 450 guests, its
largest turnout to date, to its annual
Women of Vision benefit luncheon
Sept. 8 at Congregation Shaarey Zedek
in Southfield. All proceeds from the
luncheon will benefit NCJW/Greater
Detroit community services and pro-
grams.
Patrons had the opportunity to meet
and hear featured speaker Jenna Bush
Hager, a contributing correspondent
on NBC’s Today show and an editor-
at-large for Southern Living magazine.
Hager’s heartwarming stories comple-
mented moving acceptance speeches
by Ellie Slovis, the Josephine S.
Weiner Award for Community Service
recipient, and Woman of Vision Award
recipient Alicia Stillman.
Participants enjoyed a delicious
lunch, shopping at 30 unique bou-

P
eas & Carrots Hospitality
recently hosted the fourth
annual fundraiser for Heart
2 Hart Detroit, a nonprofit organi-
zation whose mission is to provide
food, clothing, hygiene products and
hope to Detroit’s homeless and needy
population. Nearly 200 supporters
attended the event at Au Cochon, the
company’s French-inspired eatery
in Birmingham, where more than
$30,000 was raised.
In addition to a large silent auc-
tion, guests had the opportunity to
hear the success stories of those who
have been supported over the years
by Heart 2 Hart. This included indi-
viduals who are now back on their
feet because of the Farmington Hills-
based nonprofit’s generosity.
Guests enjoyed entertainment
provided by Dan Tillery and cuisine
by Peas & Carrots Hospitality, led by
owners Zack Sklar, Josh Humphrey
and Jim Bellinson.
