named David Moss as director
of fund development and events
for the venue. He began his new
role in late July 2016. Moss joins
the team from his previous posi-
tion as director of fund develop-
ment at the Motown Museum.
Additionally, he managed donor
stewardship and events at the
ACLU of Michigan, and directed
development and sponsor-
ship activities at the Holocaust
Memorial Center in Farmington
Hills. At the Flagstar Strand
Theatre, his general responsibili-
ties include creating, executing
and marketing fund develop-
ment programs and events for
corporations, organizations and
individuals.

JVS welcomes Michael Silverstein of Troy as its chief development officer.
He will be responsible for the agency’s development strategy and fundrais-
ing, including donor stewardship. He previously served in senior develop-
ment roles in academia, including director of development for Oakland
University School of Business Administration and major gifts officer at
Wayne State University Law School. Silverstein is a member and past presi-
dent of Congregation Shir Tikvah.

Alan D. Penskar has joined the Meisner Law Group P.C. as an associate attor-
ney. He focuses his practice on condominium, community association and
other real estate-related issues in addition to commercial litigation. He brings
nearly 30 years of experience in state and federal courts and in administrative
proceedings, handling lawsuits involving contract disputes, shareholder oppres-
sion, employment, including discrimination charges and enforcement of non-
competition agreements, as well as property disputes.
He has also served as a mediator in the Genesee County Circuit Court for
nearly 15 years.
Gary Graff was named the 2016 Birmingham Bloomfield Cultural Arts Award
Honoree. He is also active at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills,
holding leadership roles on the board and Men’s Club. Graff has been an active
presence on the Detroit journalistic and music scene for more than 35 years. He
is a co-founder and the producer of the Detroit Music Awards, is on the board
and helping promote a Detroit Music Museum, the author of several critically
acclaimed books on subjects such as Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Detroit’s
own Bob Seger; and he is a regular music commentator for WCSX 97.4.,
Detroit’s longest running FM classic rock station.
