he Berman Center for Jewish
Education at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek held “eRACE
Mental Illness and the Silence 5K Race
and Family Run/Walk” on Sept. 11
and surpassed its fundraising goal of
$20,000 by $4,000 so far.
More than 270 runners and walkers
of all ages ran and walked through the
neighborhood around the shul, show-
ing their collective support for the
cause of mental illness and eraasing
the stigma attached to it.
“I’m proud of us, said Rabbi Aaron
Starr. “The CSZ family and all who ran,
volunteered and donated stepped for-
ward to support Jewish Family Service
as a beacon of light in our community,
and also to begin to remove the silence
surrounding mental illness.”
Rabbi Yonatan Dahlen was equally
excited about the event. “What an
amazing expression of communal sup-
port. My favorite part of the day was
Charlie Hermann and Rabbi Yonaton Dahlen in
