Quick Click … From the William Davidson Digital
Archive of Jewish Detroit History
Mike Smith
Detroit Jewish News Foundation Archivist
T
wo weeks ago, the Detroit Jewish
News Foundation debuted its
new website. This was the first
revision of the website since it was
launched in November 2013.
The mainstay of DJNFoundation.
org is still the William Davidson Digital
Archive of Jewish Detroit History, but
keep your eye on the “Special Features”
tab. We’ll soon be adding another sig-
nificant piece of community history to
this section, and you can add your own
personal memories and observations
to the story. Your history will then be
archived for future readers and
researchers.
I would, however, like to
bring your attention to an
entirely new section of the DJNF
website: “Biographies.” Since
beginning the Davidson Digital
Archives, we have produced a number
of “books” from the pages of the Detroit
Jewish News and Detroit Jewish Chronicle
about prominent Jewish residents of
Detroit and Michigan, who have made sig-
nificant contributions to our communities.
Now, visitors to DJNFoundation.org can
read these books in
their entirety, online,
for free. Hard copies
can also be pur-
chased.
As the archivist
for the Foundation,
with assistance from
research fellows
supported by M.
Jacob & Sons and
the Techner Family,
it has been an honor
to help produce these wonderful books.
Moreover, it has been a tremendous learn-
ing experience for me. Read a book or two.
I think you’ll like them.
