Eleanor Boigon was born in Detroit on Feb. 28, 1920. She, her sister Annette and two brothers, Irving and Harold, were raised in Detroit by their mother, Tillie, and father, Max — two hard-working tailors. An excellent student, Eleanor Eleanor graduated from Minkoff Northwestern High School at the young age of 16. At that time, she went directly into the world of work. Her primary profession was finan- cial bookkeeping. She worked in and ultimately ran the financial office and bookstore of Cass Technical High School until her first retirement at 65. Eleanor "retired again" after working 10 more years as a bookkeeper at Eaton Steel. Eleanor's first love had always been her family. She wed Eddie Minkoff in 1951 and remained very happily mar- ried for 10 years until his untimely death at age 41. Eleanor raised her son and two daughters — the apples of her eye — as a single mom. She made sure each of them had everything they needed, including a college degree. Eleanor cherished her many friend- ships with longtime and new friends LAWRENCE DISKIN, 70, of Farmington Hills, died Sept. 13, 2016.
