ORT Rub-a-Dub benefits Kfar Hassidim youth village.

The Jewish Community Center
of Metropolitan Detroit

ub - a - Dub, ORT Michigan's

largest fundraiser, was held
Aug. 17 at Franklin Hills
Country Club in Farmington Hills. The
event drew 450 people, who enjoyed
a silent auction, cocktails and hors
d'oeuvres, followed by a live auction and
barbeque dinner. The event raised nearly
$500,000.
Fundraising was targeted to Kfar
Hassidim, an ORT-sponsored youth
village near Haifa, in dire need of reno-
vation and updating of its educational
technology to better serve its 300 high

school students. Audrey and William
Farber and their family gave $1 million
to Kfar Hasidim to update an auto tech
garage and four science labs.
Amid the merriment at the event, two
young men from Kfar Hassidim visited
with guests and told them about the
village and its needs. Donations from
Rub-a-Dub will go toward teacher train-
ing, curriculum development and course
