BEATRICE “BEBE” BARNETT, 99,
of Oak Park, died July 12, 2016.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Bill and Mary
Barnett; daughter and son-in-law,
Betsy and Dr. Michael Weisman;
grandchildren, Greg (Niki) Weisman,
Lisa (Andrew) Cope, Annie (Bill)
Macomber; great-grandchildren, Mia,
Joey, David, Tommy, Caroline and
Dorothy; many other loving family
members and friends.
Mrs. Barnett was the beloved wife
of the late Samuel Barnett.
Interment was held at the Beth
El Memorial Park in Livonia.

HYMAN DEAL, 88,
of West Bloomfield,
died July 16, 2016.
He is survived
by his beloved
wife, Beverly Deal;
daughters and sons-
in-law, Barbara
Deal
and John Whitaker,
Denise and David
Kamber; grandchil-
dren, Anna Whitaker, Anna Kamber,
Sarah Kamber and Rachel Kamber;
many loving nieces, nephews, other
family members and friends.
Mr. Deal was the father of the late
Robert Deal; the brother of the late
Sam Deal.

the Hebrew Memorial Park in Clinton

NANCY STEIN FRAPPIER, 69, of
San Francisco, Calif., died May 30,
2016, after a long battle with lym-
phoma.
She was born and grew up in
Detroit. She was the first daughter of
Saul and Ruthe Stein.
Nancy graduated Phi Beta Kappa
from the University of Michigan,
where she pursued her interests in
child psychology and art history.
After living in New York City for sev-
eral years, where she began her life-
long commitment to creating a better
world through social activism, Nancy
moved to the San Francisco Bay Area
in 1969.
She was a tireless worker for social
justice, including her ongoing
commitment to ensuring that social
services were available to those who
needed them. She spent the last 21
years building and directing the
Wellness Center at the Homeless

Prenatal Program in San Francisco.
She created a holistic system of care
that helped thousands of poor and
homeless mothers deliver healthy
babies. Her kind and generous spirit
impacted all who crossed her path —
clients, staff, community partners and
students.
Mrs. Frappier is survived by her
daughters, Diana of Oakland, Calif.,
and Emily of San Pablo, Calif.; her
sisters, Judith Cobb of Manchester,
England, and Debora Stein of New
York City; her grandchildren, Mia
Short, Marlon Short and Justice
Jenkins; her former husband and life-
long friend, Jon Frappier of Pacifica,
Calif.; her stepson, Michael Frappier;
her stepdaughter, Renee Frappier;
stepgrandchildren, Caitlin Senneca
and Vincent Senneca; her partner,
Doug Davis of Benicia; her aunt and
uncle, Diane and Joseph Savin of West
Bloomfield.

MARLENE GARLAND, 57, of
Franklin, died July 8, 2016.
She is survived by her sister, Marcia
Garland of Southfield; brother and
sister-in-law, Dr. Allan Garland and
Dr. Ruth Ann Marrie of Winnipeg;
aunt and uncle, Jane and Seymour
Weiner; other loving relatives and
friends.
Marlene was the beloved daughter
of the late Beatrice Garland Kaplan
and the late Norman Garland; cher-
ished stepdaughter of the late Sheldon
Kaplan.

DR. DARRYL
GOLDBERG, 79, of
Bloomfield Hills, died
July 15, 2016.
Dr. Goldberg lived
a completely fulfilled
life. He was married
to his high school
Goldberg
sweetheart for 57
years, served in the
Air Force in Germany
and practiced ophthalmology for 45
years.
He was proud to have participated
in each of his six grandchildren’s b’nai
mitzvot, was an active member in the
Jewish Federation, Fresh Air Society
and Adat Shalom Synagogue.
