With the Michigan legislature having passed House Bill 4493, requiring Holocaust and genocide Professor education in schools, the Martin university is seeking to help Shichtman teachers become leaders in their schools in creating and implementing the new curriculum. The advanced teacher seminar, “Teaching the Holocaust through Film,” seeks to help teachers understand the various mecha- nisms that produce a culture of intolerance that can ultimately lead to genocide. The seminar runs Aug. 1-5 with a registration deadline of July 22. Professor Martin Shichtman is director of EMU’s Center for Jewish Studies.
