Launched in 2016, Nosh Gen combines food and drink, with a dash of local Jewish history. The Nosh Gen committee, chaired by Barbara and Sheldon Cohn, selected the aquarium because of its many layers of historical Jewish connections: from David Heineman, the legislator who obtained permission in 1903 to build the aquatic center, to Albert Kahn, who was retained to design it. More recently, Detroiters Jennifer Boardman and Alan and Joy Nachman have been instru- mental in its revitalization. JHSM’s next Nosh Gen event is Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Detroit Historical Museum, featuring Mike Stone from 97.1 The Ticket. Stone will reflect on baseball history as part of the upcoming “Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming American” exhibit. * Jay and Ezter Wolk of Farmington Hills David Zenlea and Kate Weisberg, both of Detroit Lila Silverman, Richard Knoll and Maureen Fill, all of Bloomfield Hills Marty and Julie Wiener of West Bloomfield and Debby Tukel of Franklin Stacy and Michael Simmons and Rob Kaplow, all of Bloomfield Hills ‘Most Valuable Rabbi’ Rabbi Pachter honored for 25 years of service with sports-themed event.
