for the coming year are: president,

SCHOOL HEAD
Abi Taylor-Abt of Moshav Shoresh,
Israel, moves to Oak Park this sum-
mer to be the new religious school
director of the Yachad (together)
Religious School program. Yachad
is the K-7 combined religious
school partnership of Temple
Emanu-El and Congregation Beth
Shalom, both located in Oak Park.
Taylor-Abt has been a Jewish
educator her whole career. She
was born in London, England,
and finished school in Israel. After
attending college in South Africa,
she began her career in Jewish edu-
cation working as the teen director
at Moshav Neve Ilan, Israel. She is
currently the director of program
and curriculum development at
Alon Community School, Kiryat
Anavim, Israel.
In addition to leading the com-
bined religious school, Taylor-Abt
will coordinate family and commu-
nity education programs and the
high school/young adult program
at Temple Emanu-El.
The Yachad Religious School
program will begin its second
year after a successful inaugural
year. This is the first inter-denom-
inational religious school in the
area, according to the congrega-
tions’ rabbis, Robert Gamer of
Beth Shalom and Arturo Kalfus
of Emanu-El. The school meets
on Sundays at Emanu-El and on
Wednesdays at Beth Shalom.
“I anticipate a year of enthusi-
asm and warmth and look forward
to beginning an exciting year,” said
Taylor-Abt.
