LANE BENJAMIN LESKO, 19, of Ann Arbor, died suddenly in New England on June 21, 2016. Lane was a Lesko 2015 graduate of Community High School and lived in Ann Arbor with his family. At Community, he was involved in youth and government, and the- ater; he was also a delegate to two Model U.N. conferences. Lane co-founded Community’s first Jewish Student Union Club. An active volunteer in the Ann Arbor community, Lane worked at the Delonis Center, Food Gatherers and the Leslie Science and Nature Center. He was also a volunteer at Temple Beth Emeth, where he celebrated his bar mitz- vah. At Temple Beth Emeth, Lane worked as a madrich (teacher’s assistant) in the Temple’s religious school. Just prior to his death, while in a residential program to treat his bipolar disorder, Lane had summited Speckled Mountain in Maine and rock climbed for the first time. He was remembered by Rabbi Aharon Goldstein of Ann Arbor Chabad as a “genuine and gentle soul.” May his memory be for a blessing. Lane is survived and will be missed by his loving parents, Patricia Lesko and Marjorie Winkelman Lesko; brother, Bram; grandparents, Mike and Betsy Winkelman of West Bloomfield; aunts and uncles, Amy Winkelman, Gary Blackman, Steven Winkelman, Heather Batchelor, Guy Malamud and Revital Liraz Malamud; cousins, Emma, Emily and Benny; family friends and other relatives.
