o matter how you slice it, the
34th annual B’nai B’rith Golf
Classic was a success.
Eighty golfers participated in the out-
ing on a perfect, summer-like day June 6
at Tam-O-Shanter Country Club in West
Bloomfield.
Although competition on the golf
course wasn’t the main focus, there were
winners. The team of Neil Bloomberg,
Ken Goldberg, Dave Gerber and Justin
Ceresnie finished first, and the runner-
up team was Nick Haratsaris, Cam
Kennedy and Glen Young.
Rob Herner won the straightest drive
contest. Shel Olsen was closest to the hole.
Larry Newman won the cruise raffle.
He won a seven-night cruise for two
to the Caribbean or Alaska or a Disney
cruise plus $500 cash.
B’nai B’rith Great Lakes Region
scholarship winners Jordan Halpern,
Max Rotenberg and Rachel Wasserman
were recognized. The recent high school
graduates each was presented a $2,500
scholarship during the dinner program
that concluded the day.
“As always, we had fabulous items
on our silent auction table and some
exciting items for our live auction,” said
Bobbie Levine, program director for the
B’nai B’rith Great Lakes Region.
Live auction items included four
tickets to a Detroit Tigers game at
Comerica Park.
Proceeds from the outing benefit B’nai
B’rith Great Lakes Region and its schol-
arship fund, area BBYO chapters and
Hillel chapters on area college campuses.
Levine thanked sponsors, donors,
Golf Classic co-chairs David Lubin and
Michael Fishman, and their committee
and volunteers who helped B’nai B’rith
Great Lakes Region staff organize and
run the event.

GO SEE THE TIGERS
Want to attend a Detroit Tigers game at
Comerica Park with dozens of friends
and help youngsters from Jewish Family
Service of Metropolitan Detroit and
other not-for-profits enjoy Kids Day at
the ballpark?
B’nai B’rith Great Lakes Region’s 38th
annual Tigers Day will be Sunday, Aug.
28, when the Tigers take on the Los
Angeles Angels.
Group seating is available in the

bleachers and Kaline’s Corner ($40
per ticket) and in covered lower deck
baseline box seats ($60 per ticket). In
each case, a $19 donation included in
the ticket price goes toward tickets for
youngsters.
Children under age 14 who attend
the game will receive an Anibal Sanchez
school supplies case, be able to take
free rides on the carousel and Ferris
wheel, and have an opportunity to run
the bases on the field after the game,
weather permitting.
