The
Best Care
Possible

Celebrating 18

yx

Eighteen years ago , e Jewish Hospice and Chaplaincy Network

set out to provide the best care possible for Jews facing terminal illness. Over
the years, we have helped more than 7,000 patients and this year we are
serving an average of 180 patients and their families every day.
It’s no wonder that every year at our Shenkman-Weisberg Caring
Coalition Conference more than 1,000 hospice and palliative care
professionals come to the Jewish community to learn from us in a Jewish
setting how to provide the “Best Care Possible.”
We thank Congregation Shaarey Zedek, and our partners and sponsors
listed below, for helping JHCN build and grow this premier educational
event. We also thank the Jewish community for helping ensure that:

NO JEW IS EVER ALONE

No one is ever charged for our services.
Your generosity and donations make all this possible. ank you!

“We consider JHCN an essential part of
our care team. rough education and
teamwork, our clinicians have a deeper
understanding and respect for Jewish
tradition that is so important to providing
a meaningful end-of-life experience.”

Robert Cahill
President / CEO
Hospice of Michigan

“JHCN has created a very important
conversation around the delivery of
palliative medicine and what is possible
when a community collaborates to take
care of its own.”

Betty Chu
Medical Director
Henry Ford Hospital
West Bloomfield

“e LifeLinks program is exemplary —
it is truly the birthright of every Jew to
receive thoughtful and compassionate
care — exactly what JHCN provides Jewish
patients as they approach the end of life.”

Jeffrey Margolis, MD
Internal Medicine, Oncologist
President, Millenium Group

“e Shenkman-Weisberg Caring Coali-
tion Conference and the educational
catalyst created by JHCN is clearly an
example of what can and should be done
in other areas of the country.”

Michael Stellini, MD
DMC / Wayne State University /
VA Medical Center

“We are encouraging Jewish Hospice &
Chaplaincy Network to bring its
experience, knowledge and expertise to
all ethnic and religious affinity groups.
ey can teach by example the art of
caring for each patient on their own
unique religious, ethnic or cultural
terms.”

Todd Stern
CEO
Seasons Hospice
& Palliative Care

“e Shenkman-Weisberg conference
event brings unequalled energy and
knowledge to professional caregivers,
inspiring them to help patients with
empathy and compassion as they begin
to confront end-of-life concerns and
struggles.”

Michael Miller
Senior Vice President of Mission
St. Joseph Mercy Health System

“JHCN’s LifeLinks initiative is a beauti-
ful remedy for a huge gap in our health-
care system. It is quickly becoming the
paradigm for responding to individuals
who need help and support at the end
of life by bringing vital services drectly
to the patient’s home. Educating
others about JHCN’s model is unique
and essential to the end-of-life care
conversation.”
