died June 5, 2016.

years ago from New Haven,
Conn. He was an active mem-

regularly participating in the
morning minyan and Shabbat services,
including reading haftorahs and offering
commentaries from the bimah.
At the Jewish Senior Life Hechtman
Apartments, he sang the full Kiddush
every Friday evening for the residents
and organized activities including a
weekly Jewish news and views group
and a men’s club.
In New Haven, he was a past presi-
dent of Congregation Bikur Cholim
Sheveth Achim, the Horeb Lodge of
B’nai B’rith and the Jewish Historical
Society of Greater New Haven.
Mr. Horwitz is survived by his chil-
dren, Arthur and Gina Horwitz of West
Bloomfield, Dr. Leonard and Marilyn
Horwitz of Cincinnati, and Laurie Ellen
and Daniel Duhan of Owings Mills, Md.;
grandchildren, Rabbi Daniel and Miriam

91, of West
Bloomfield, died June
4, 2016.
She is survived
by her beloved hus-
band, Carl Burstein;
daughter and son-

Marty Gold; sons
and daughters-in-law, Mark and Karen
Burstein, Jeff and Andy Burstein; grand-
children, David (Jen) Zorn, Jen (Zachary
Beamer) Burstein, Sarah Burstein, Jacob

Leo Goldstein; niece, Lisa (Stewart Prog)
Goldstein; many other loving family
members and friends.
Mrs. Burstein was the dear sister-in-
law of the late Betty Goldstein.
Interment was held at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park in Livonia. Contributions

Duhan; great-grandchildren, Avi,
Rachel, Leah, Yitzhak, Aaron,
Esther and Batsheva Zomber,
Devorah, Zev and Avi Friedman,
Devorah Greenfield, and Jonah and
Benjamin Horwitz. He is also survived by
his loving companion, Bea Sonders.
Mr. Horwitz was the beloved hus-
band of the late Sally Horwitz; the lov-
ing father-in-law of the late Rochelle
Horwitz; the loving brother of the late
Harold Horwitz and the late Sidney
Victor; and the devoted son of the late
Samuel and the late Sarah Horwitz.
Interment was at Adas B’nai
Yeshurun Cemetery in Connecticut.
