CONGRATULATIONS

GLASSMAN SUBARU

A division of

Glassman Automotive Group

he 29th annual EyesOn Design
fundraiser will take place
Father’s Day weekend, June
17-19, and will showcase automobile
royalty from 1930s classics to the
muscle cars of the 1960s and rare
exotic brands to vintage trailers. This
year, an exclusive open house at the
Lingenfelter Collection will be part of
the festivities. Proceeds from the week-
end’s activities will benefit the Henry
Ford Health System’s Detroit Institute of
Ophthalmology (DIO).
“Powered by Design” is the theme of
EyesOn Design 2016, which will feature
a record-setting 360 vehicles from the
world’s top collectors. The exhibition
is open to the public for browsing, and
individual vehicles will be judged by
experts in several design categories.
Special collections include:
• Arsenal of Democracy: A Tribute to
Military Vehicles: 1941-1991
• Pure Michigan: Made in Kalamazoo
• Collectors’ Circle: The Best from
Collectors and Restorers
• Early American Motorcycles: 1900-
1941
• On the Road Again: Vintage
Camping Rigs and Trailers 1910-1970.
“With its emphasis on automo-
tive design, past, present and future,
EyesOn Design is the only show of
its kind in the world,” said Kathy
Lightbody, EyesOn Design chairman.
“Unlike other shows where cars are
judged on restoration and/or authen-
ticity, the exterior of each vehicle at
EyesOn Design is judged using pro-
fessional design criteria: emotional
appeal, execution, artistic excellence,
and design character and continuity. It

is such a treat to see cars of this caliber
showcased at one event.”
Two of the extraordinary cars on
exhibit will be a 1953 Supercharged
Chevrolet Corvette and Test Mule
800HP 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
from the Lingenfelter Collection.
“We are proud to be a part of such a
renowned event,” said Ken Lingenfelter,
owner of Lingenfelter Performance
Engineering. “This show has always
been one of the highlights of our
year, and we are very pleased to bring
additional attention to the exhibition
and increase donations to the Detroit
Institute of Ophthalmology by opening
the doors to our collection.”
The main car show will open from 10
a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, at
the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House Front
Lawn in Grosse Pointe Shores. Tickets
are $25 per person. Children 12 and
under are free with an adult.
Enthusiasts can begin their weekend
by attending the Vision Honored black-
tie event on Friday, June 17, from 6:30
p.m.-11 p.m. at the Grosse Pointe War
Memorial. Tickets are $175. For res-
ervations, call Judi Dara at (313) 824-
4710 or jdara@dioeyes.org.
On Saturday, June 18, tour the
Lingenfelter Collection, 7819 Lochlin
Drive, Brighton, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Lingenfelter Collection is the
private collection of Ken and Kristen
Lingenfelter, who have more than
200 distinctive vehicles, comprised
of Corvettes, muscle cars and exotics.
Tickets are $15 at the door.
