Sloane Elisabeth
Goldberg will
become a bat mitzvah
on Saturday, June 4, at
Temple Beth El in
Bloomfield Township.
She is the daughter of
Stacy Goldberg and
Goldberg
Dale Goldberg, and
the older sister of
Spencer Goldberg. Proud grandparents
are Phyllis and Richard Canvasser. She is
also the granddaughter of the late Irene
and the late Herbert Goldberg.
Sloane attends Berkshire Middle
School in Birmingham. For her mitzvah
project, she collected food, items and
monetary donations for the Downtown
Boxing Gym in Detroit, which helps to
develop good citizenship in urban youth
through academic support, boxing and
volunteering.

Ethan Alexander
Johnson, son of
Lauren and Rick
Johnson, will read
from the Torah on the
occasion of his bar
mitzvah at Temple
Israel in West
Johnson
Bloomfield on
Saturday, June 4.
Joining in his simchah will be his sisters
Isabel and Olivia and proud grandpar-
ents Ruth and David Marcus.
Ethan is a student at Orchard Lake
Middle School in West Bloomfield. For
the tzedakah portion of his mitzvah
project, he dedicated his time to raising
funds and awareness for the work of the
Jewish Chaplains Council, which sup-
ports Jews enlisted in the U.S. military.
Ethan found this project to be especially
meaningful as he comes from a long line
of patriotic American men: two great-
grandfathers served in the Army during

Shalom in Oak Park.
Blase
Celebrating with her
will be her proud par-
ents, Beth and Alan Blase. Zoey is the
cherished grandchild of Elizabeth Blase,
and Jane and Alex Bolea. She is also the
grandchild of the late Bernard Blase and
the late Richard Robinson.
Zoey is a student at Anderson Middle
School in Berkley. She participated in
multiple mitzvah projects. Among them
was cooking and serving food during
Shelter Week/Empty Bowls at Beth
Shalom.

World War II; his grandfather served in
the Navy during Vietnam and the Cold
War; his father served in the Army for
15 years.

Lexi is a student at James R.

Township. As one of her many mitzvah
experiences, she took her grandparents’
dog to Fleishman Residence in West
Bloomfield to interact and visit with the
seniors. She found this to be exception-
ally rewarding.

Emily Rachel Mills
will become a bat
mitzvah as she reads
from the Torah on
Saturday, June 4, at
Temple Israel in West
Bloomfield. She is the
loving daughter of Dr.
Mills
Judith and Howard
Mills, and sister of
Jessica. Emily is the granddaughter of
Sharon and Stuart Mills, and the late
Janet and the late Bertram Feldman.
She is a student at West Hills Middle
School in Bloomfield Hills. Among her
many mitzvah projects, Emily found giv-
ing her time at a local elementary school,
reading with students, to be the most
meaningful.

Jack Tyler Novick
will become a bar
mitzvah Saturday,
June 4, at Adat
Shalom Synagogue
in Farmington Hills.
He is the son of
Hannah and Barry
Novick
Novick, and the
brother of Lauren and
Spencer. Jack is the grandson of Miriam
Rubenstein, Peggy Novick, the late
Morris Rubenstein and the late Marvin
Novick.
Jack is a student at Bloomfield Hills
Middle School. For his mitzvah proj-
ect, he did community service projects
through House the Homeless and help-
ing with seniors at Prentis Apartments in
Oak Park.
