Honoring The 6 Million

early 300 members of the com-
munity joined together at the
Holocaust Memorial Center
Zekelman Family Campus Sunday, May
1, for its annual Yom HaShoah commemo-
ration, led by Adat Shalom’s Rabbi Aaron
Bergman and Hazzan Daniel Gross.
Local survivors were central to the pro-
gram. Oak Park resident Michael Weiss, 91,
provided powerful words about his experi-
ences prior to partaking in a candlelighting
designed to remember and honor the 6
million Jews lost in the Holocaust. Other

participants included Edith and Marvin
Kozlowski, Ruth Adler Schnee and Charles
Adler, Fryda Fleish, Shoshana and Sol
Winkler, Eva and Jan Rival, Zita Weber, Ray
and Simon Binke and Edward Malinowski.
For the first time, members of BBYO
Michigan Region chapters participated in
the worldwide Holocaust memorial proj-
ect, “Unto Every Person There is a Name,”

Jewish Bar Association’s “Spring Fling” brings legal professionals together.

n May 3, the Jewish Bar Association of
Michigan (JBAM) hosted its Spring Fling at
the Lounge at Arcadia in Southfield. The event
brought together 75 Jewish lawyers, judges and law stu-
dents to network, enjoy music and sample kosher hors
d’oeuves and drinks.
The event also served as a launch party for JBAM’s new
website, www.jewishbar.org.
JBAM was started by a multi-generational group of
local attorneys in 2014 and strives to serve as the go-to
legal organization for the needs of the Jewish commu-
