David S. Goldfarb and Lisa Saiman
of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., are delighted
to announce the engagement of their chil-
dren Elise Alexandra Rose and Benjamin
Aaron Goldfarb.
Elise earned her bachelor’s degree in
English from the University of Michigan and
is pursuing her master’s degree in nurse-
midwifery/women’s health nurse practitioner
at the Yale School of Nursing.
Ben earned his bachelor’s degree in
English from Amherst College and his
master of environmental management from the Yale School of Forestry and
Environmental Studies. He is a correspondent for High Country News, an envi-
ronmental journalist and writer.
The couple met as teachers in Thailand in 2009. An August wedding is
planned in Detroit.

Bloomfield will celebrate their 50th
anniversary on May 28. In April, they
celebrated on a Caribbean cruise with their
children and grandchildren. In May, their
children, Julie and Pat Smyk, and Jacalyn
and Ken Bishop, made a party for them at
Cantoro’s Trattoria in Plymouth. Joani and
Jim were so proud and happy to be with
them, their five grandchildren, Hannah,
Jace, Evan, Cooper and Addelyn, as well as
friends and other relatives.
