Later this year, the Gallery will host
its first-ever pop-up show.
The Gallery includes two spacious
floors for exhibits, a large skylight
and the Gallery Shop, with charm-
ing one-of-a-kind gifts like clocks
and children’s clothing and jewelry.
There is also a Side Gallery, hosting
a small exhibit by a single artist.
In its 25 years, the Gallery has
presented a wide array of shows like
“Bat Mitzvah Comes of Age,” which
traced the evolution of the bat mitz-
vah from a private ceremony to its
prominence today; “OLD2NEW: A
Celebration of Art Through Salvaged,
Found Objects and Upcycled
Material”; Israeli posters, reflecting
the history and culture of the Jewish
homeland from 1930-1960; “Jews
Who Rock,” a collection of photos
and memorabilia celebrating Jews in
the music industry; “Kindness Can
Make a Difference,” sculptures made
of perishable food items, which
were later donated to local pantries;
a collection of bras designed by art-
ists and covered with everything
from fake flowers to gemstones (the
show also served as a fundraiser for
breast cancer); plus shows highlight-
ing works in fiber, glass and clay.
The Gallery also has held exhibits
that invite anyone in the community
to find her inner artist. “PostSecret”
had visitors write and illustrate a
private wish; “Under the Watchful
Eye” began with plain, Masonite
hamsas that the Gallery provided
with no specific directions, just a
request to decorate; and professional
and amateur artists throughout the
country completed blank journals,
which were passed from one person
to another, resulting in collective
masterpieces.
