Leland and Tina Bassett

B

assett & Bassett global com-
munications firm practices
what it prescribes. By tapping
into the dynamics of human behavior
to strategically customize integrated
communications programs, the team is
transforming some of the world’s most
powerful organizations.
Leading the successful venture are
members of the Detroit Jewish com-
munity Leland Bassett, chairman and
CEO, and his wife, Tina Bassett, who is
president of the company. The couple
purposefully curated a multicultural
team of professional communica-
tions managers and counselors, who
have been so successful in helping
clients grow that the firm went global
this year with the opening of an Asia
Pacific Operations office in Pune,
India, and Middle East representation
in Beirut, Lebanon.
New business lines include digital
and social media marketing special-
ists EngageDigitalStrategies LLC and
C-level executive search firm Bassett &
Bassett Executive Search LLC, under
the umbrella of the Bassett Business
Group, and the current development
of Bassett Children’s Foundation, a 501
(c)(3) charity focusing on improving
children’s lives with the visual and per-
forming arts.
“It’s taken a long time for us to
reach this point,” Leland said. “We see
Detroit as a global player. There are

so many opportunities, because of the
auto industry for one, that lend the city
global perspective.”
With a passion to develop new
business relationships and explore
unknown territory, the couple launched
Bassett & Bassett with zero clients on
April 1, 1986. It has since been a steady
climb as the Bassett Business Group
gained 16 employees and 24 contract
specialists on three continents. Today,
Bassett & Bassett offers a diverse menu
of strategic integrated communication
planning and management as well as
branding and marketing, public and
media relations, and digital strategy
and content marketing services.
Countless clients of the firm also
enjoy strategic program, crisis manage-
ment, advertising, employee communi-
cation, organizational development and
relationship management initiatives. An
important underlying business concept
for members of the Bassett & Bassett
team is generational responsibility, and
the team remains committed to fur-
thering the work and success of genera-
tions that came before them.
“We both love what we do, and we
have a great team of young profession-
als to serve as the next generation,” Tina
said. “We seed opportunities as they
come, and we will also be considering
other brand extensions now over the
upcoming years.”
